Eco-Chic Wreath for Valentines

A fun eco-friendly project from Vintage Indie:

I think the kids and I are going to work on this soon - I might even see if we can figure out how to make them into heart shapes for Valentine's Day!  Oh wait, that's why God invented Google!  Looky what I found:

While I was over there I checked out her Etsy shop (you know I can't resist Etsy sellers!) and found this super cute catnip toy!

Scrappy Catnip Monster - Amora, $8.00 (can you believe that - only $8.00!)

And you know on Etsy you can't stop with just one shop...

And it reminded me to update my shop with a few Valentine's tags too:

Faith, Hope and Love, $68.00 by [ReDeemed] unique art

Soul Tattoo, $48.50 by [ReDeemed] unique art

Well - when we finish our Valentine's wreath I'll post pics, in the mean time - try to stay warm!

Back to (home)school...

I don't think that I've mentioned yet that we are a homeschooling family!  Today marks a return to school after nearly 3 weeks off, I have to say that I might be more disappointed than the kids!

We use Switched-On Schoolhouse from Alpha Omega Publishing.  I really like it (I mean REALLY!)

I spend a lot of time on the computer anyway (betcha already noticed that!) so it was a natural choice for us to use a computer-based curriculum.  The kids love it, especially since we invested in a new laptop for each of them last year!

We had a family meeting (well, really we just lingered at the dinner table on purpose) to discuss how school was going, what everyone liked, didn't like and suggestions for improvement.  The kids came up with a great idea: they wanted us to all work on the Bible section together.  Individually they each were bored with it (probably since they've been in church/Sunday School so much!), but they thought that it would be more interesting together.

I'm so glad that my husband and I thought to ask them - they are incredible little people with great ideas!

So, now I'm off to tweak the curriculum on their computers so that we can start a fresh 2010 with a fresh take on school!  But first, I'm entering the great giveaway over at Today's Giveaway - a fabulous bag!

Have a great Monday!

Silver Sunday, number 1

Welcome to the very first Silver Sunday Blog Party, hosted by Beth at Gypsy Fish Journal!

I'm late to the party, and completely undressed!  It's like one of those nightmares where you show up and you're naked, only you are the last one to know!

So, I'm stalling and scrambling... but here are my contributions!

Custom memorial piece for a client's coworker who passed away before Christmas. The angel is [ReDeemed] from a keychain, the charm at the bottom is a formerly lonely sterling silver earring. The framed art is a hand-tinted hymnal page "Onward Christian Soldiers" with a heart and swirls, reverse has the initial of the young woman who passed away. (SOLD)

Silver Cross: Features hand-tinted cross set on a hand-tinted antique hymnal page (a blank one from the back). In a discarded (but beautiful) silver frame - tabletop or hanging display. apx. 9'x9' (SOLD)

"Amazing Grace" 2" square glass pendant, silver-tone frame. The background is a hand-tinted vintage hymnal page with hand-tinted heart and die-cut cross and swirls. The reverse features more of the hymn and a hand-stamped heart with die cut swirls. Attached to a leather cord embelished with [ReDeemed] silver beads from a vintage necklace, apx. 18"
(SEE - I did have some vintage silver in here!) (SOLD)

Playing with the template (again)

My regular visitors may notice that I've tweaked the template (yet again).  I am beginning to wonder how people blog "on the side" as this has become an obsession and is quite time consuming!

I think that I like the new format (i.e. 3 columns), I'm still working out the details.  I have to create yet another different sized photo for the top, a new banner and more...

Sigh.  My parents are visiting, my dad was heading to the kitchen and asked "you need anything babe?" I shot back "yes, a good friend who knows html!"  One day, when I'm rich and have nothing else to spend my time and money on, I will hire this all out.

Oh - who am I kidding, it sure beats housework!

Don't stop - there's lots more good stuff...
